Are you skilled at uncovering new business opportunities, building lasting relationships, and helping customers solve technical challenges?

Astro Pak is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to grow and support our Upper Great Lakes territory. In this role, you’ll combine your technical or mechanical knowledge with a consultative sales approach to develop new business and strengthen existing customer relationships. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their needs and connect them with Astro Pak’s specialized cleaning and passivation services.

This position requires up to 60% travel by land and/or air, including overnight stays, for customer visits, job walks, trade shows, and industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities while growing existing customer accounts.

  • Build long-term relationships by understanding customer challenges and providing technical advice and support.

  • Develop and execute an annual regional strategic sales plan to achieve established sales goals.

  • Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through proposal development, negotiation, and close.

  • Conduct customer visits and job walks to gather project requirements and provide the Estimator and/or Operations Manager with a clear, measurable scope of work.

  • Support bid and proposal preparation, ensuring proposed services align with customer needs.

  • Address technical and business objections by clearly communicating the value of Astro Pak’s services.

  • Deliver customer presentations and educational seminars, and represent Astro Pak at trade shows and industry events.

  • Evaluate project opportunities and support compliance with applicable U.S. Export Control Laws.

Who We’re Looking For

You’re a self-motivated sales professional who enjoys developing business, learning technical concepts, and earning customer trust. You bring an entrepreneurial mindset, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage a territory independently while collaborating with internal partners.

Must-Haves

  • A four-year degree, preferably in business or a technical field.

  • 6–10 years of successful sales and business development experience in a quota-driven environment, with measurable results.

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, sell technical services, negotiate effectively, and close business.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and communicate technical information.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to connect with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong organization, strategic thinking, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • A high level of integrity, accountability, and customer focus.

  • A valid Class C driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%, including overnight travel.

  • Ability to comply with applicable federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical or water systems industries.

  • Experience using a CRM database to manage customer relationships and sales opportunities.
