The role
We're hiring a long-term Tech Lead for a US client. You'll take ownership of their software product, which serves 10 client companies. The stack is C#/.NET and SQL Server with legacy ASP.NET, plus AWS serverless services, Power BI reporting and some PHP/WordPress sites. Most issues come from poorly structured queries, so strong SQL and data skills are key.
This role is as much about judgment as about code. You'll decide when something should be refactored and when it should be kept as legacy, and you'll explain those trade-offs clearly to the client. Clients often need reports ASAP, so you'll prioritize under pressure and make sure the urgent work gets done.
You'll get 2 weeks of onboarding, and from week 3 you'll take on large tickets end to end.
What you'll do
- Own the product technically: architecture, priorities and quality
- Decide what to refactor and what to keep as legacy, and communicate the reasoning
- Find and fix slow or badly structured queries, and improve data models and performance
- Deliver urgent reports and data requests for the product's 10 clients
- Build and maintain AWS Lambda functions and data pipelines
- Analyze data and support Power BI reports
- Work across Python scripts, JavaScript frameworks and WordPress/PHP sites when needed
- Keep the US client updated with clear, precise and honest communication
What we're looking for
- 7+ years with C#/.NET and SQL Server, with advanced query optimization and data analysis skills
- Hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda), Python and at least one JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue or Node)
- Experience with Power BI and with WordPress/PHP
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to make and defend technical decisions
- Great at prioritizing many requests at once and finishing what's urgent
- Experience leading developers
- Fluent English (C1+), since you'll talk to the client every day
- Ownership mindset: you learn what you don't know and treat the product as your own. Founder or startup experience is a big plus.
