About the Role
A US-based CPA firm is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to handle the preparation of business and trust returns for its client portfolio. This role focuses primarily on Form 1120-S (S-Corporation), Form 1065 (Partnership), and Form 1041 (Trust and Estate) returns. The position is fully remote and requires hands-on proficiency with CCH tax software, which is a hard requirement for this role.

- Prepare Form 1120-S (S-Corporation), Form 1065 (Partnership), and Form 1041 (Trust and Estate) returns accurately and in accordance with current tax law
- Input and organize client financial data within CCH tax software to produce complete, review-ready return packages
- Review source documents, financial statements, and prior-year returns to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Identify missing information and follow up with clients or internal staff to obtain required documentation
- Flag technical issues, complex items, or items requiring CPA review and communicate these clearly
- Meet internal preparation deadlines and manage a queue of returns simultaneously during peak periods
- Maintain organized, complete workpapers for each return prepared
- Respond to reviewer feedback promptly and make corrections as directed
- Stay current with changes to tax law affecting S-Corporations, partnerships, and trusts and estates

- Minimum 2 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting or CPA firm environment
- Strong working knowledge of pass-through entity taxation, fiduciary income tax, and related federal and state filing requirements
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements, general ledgers, and K-1s
