Sr. Analyst, Strategic Finance

About us

Sparrow is the first high-tech, high-touch employee leave management solution. Our mission is to make it simple for companies to provide their employees with all kinds of leave (i.e. family, medical, etc.).

Currently, the leave management process is painful and inefficient for everyone. Company leaders struggle to keep up with regulations and processes that change frequently, and the employees going on leave are overwhelmed by bureaucracy at an exceptionally important juncture in their career. Sparrow transforms this ordinarily tedious, error-prone, complex to remain compliant, and time-consuming process into a 30-minute end-to-end experience saving teams time (20 – 40 hours per leave) and money (up to $30K per leave).

Sparrow is headquartered in San Francisco but all employees work remotely across the country. Sparrow is a diverse, highly talented, and supportive team. Together, we are hardworking, collaborative, smart, and humble—after all, we’re solving real problems.

About The Team And Role

You’ll be Sparrow’s first Strategic Finance hire, reporting directly to the CFO. This is an opportunity to build the finance function from scratch: owning the models and analysis that drive real decisions. You’ll partner directly with the CFO on strategy while independently owning execution, and you’ll have real influence on how this function is built as Sparrow scales.

What You’ll Do

  • Model Ownership: Own all financial models, including the operating model, headcount model, and other models that set goals and measure business performance across the company.

  • Build the next-generation Strategic Finance function: Develop AI-powered workflows, automated analyses, and intelligence systems that redefine what a small strategic finance team can do.

  • Strategy: Assess and define our existing and potential future strategic priorities. Quantitatively validate and drive influence toward the highest revenue impact and ROI initiatives.

  • Reporting and Insights: Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations that inform go-to-market tactics, product decisions, budget allocations, Board of Directors and investor materials, leadership reporting and other cross-functional roadmaps.

  • Business Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Sales, Engineering, Product, Operations, and Leadership.

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to our long-range, annual, and quarterly planning processes, including the strategic plan that positions us to accomplish our goals.

What You Bring

  • 3-5 years of experience, whether from investment banking, consulting, or in-house FP&A or strategic finance. Experience with consumption-based or usage-based business models is a meaningful plus.

  • Expert-level modeling ability, translating complex business drivers into clear, usable frameworks without hand-holding.

  • You’ve built something with AI, a model, a workflow, an automated analysis, and you’re eager to do more of it. You see AI as core to how a modern finance function operates, not a novelty.

  • You identify problems before they’re handed to you, and you thrive when the answer isn’t obvious.

  • An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.

  • Comfortable being the only one in the room who does this. There’s no existing Strategic Finance team to lean on yet, you’re helping to build the first version of it.

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position with compensation of $97,000-$143,000 depending on experience and location.
