Senior DevOps Engineer

Remote, Brazil | Full-time | Intelex

Why should you join Intelex?

At Intelex, you’ll help build and evolve the cloud platforms that power business-critical environmental, health, safety, and quality solutions. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll have meaningful ownership of how our engineering teams build, deploy, observe, secure, and operate software at scale.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role where you can solve complex engineering problems while making the developer experience simpler for others. You’ll work across AWS and Azure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, security, and reliability, while partnering with engineering, SRE, security, data, and architecture teams. Your work will directly influence deployment velocity, platform resilience, operational efficiency, and the ability of teams to deliver safely.

What this role entails?

  • Build platforms that make engineering easier. Design and evolve internal developer platforms, paved paths, reusable Terraform modules, deployment patterns, golden pipelines, and self-service capabilities that help teams deliver software securely and efficiently.

  • Engineer reliable cloud infrastructure. Design, operate, and continuously improve production environments across AWS and Azure, including Kubernetes workloads on EKS and AKS. Apply automation and engineering practices that improve availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.

  • Advance CI/CD and release engineering. Build secure, repeatable CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and related tooling. Implement automated testing, policy controls, artifact management, GitOps, and deployment approaches such as rolling, blue/green, and canary releases.

  • Strengthen observability and reliability. Improve monitoring, metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, incident response, disaster recovery, and operational readiness. Troubleshoot complex production issues, drive root-cause analysis, reduce operational toil, and automate recurring remediation.

  • Raise engineering standards. Partner with development, SRE, security, data, architecture, and FinOps stakeholders on cloud architecture, DevSecOps, operational practices, cost optimization, and resilience. Mentor engineers, contribute to design reviews, and help establish reusable engineering standards.

You’ll work within a distributed engineering environment and collaborate across teams and time zones. The role includes participation in scheduled on-call rotations and requires meaningful overlap with the core engineering team.

What we are looking for?

Qualifications

  • Significant hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a related discipline, including ownership of highly available production environments. Approximately 8+ years of relevant experience is a helpful benchmark, but we value demonstrated capability and impact.

  • Strong production experience with AWS and/or Azure, with hands-on expertise in cloud networking, identity and access management, secrets, certificates, security, scalability, and resilient architecture. Experience working deeply across both clouds is highly valued.

  • Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code, including reusable modules, environment provisioning, remote state, CI/CD integration, automated validation, security controls, and drift management.

  • Production experience with CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes, using technologies such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, EKS, AKS, Helm, Argo CD, Flux, or comparable platforms.

  • Strong automation and operational engineering capabilities, including scripting with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages, plus experience with observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent.

Experience with technologies such as Octopus Deploy, Kustomize, Karpenter, Backstage, OpenTelemetry, ServiceNow, PagerDuty, C#/.NET, service mesh, chaos engineering, or AI-assisted DevOps tooling is valuable, but you do not need experience with every technology listed to be successful in this role.

Personal / Soft Skills

  • You take ownership of complex technical problems and are comfortable troubleshooting across applications, infrastructure, networking, deployment pipelines, and cloud services.
  • You balance reliability, security, developer experience, scalability, and cost when making engineering decisions.
  • You enjoy automating repetitive work and creating reusable solutions rather than solving the same problem multiple times.
  • You communicate clearly in English and collaborate effectively in distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • You enjoy sharing knowledge, mentoring other engineers, documenting solutions, and helping establish technical standards.

Additional experience that can help you succeed

We’d be particularly interested in experience with one or more of the following:

  • Building Internal Developer Platforms, developer portals, or Golden Paths
  • Large-scale Kubernetes environments and advanced Kubernetes tooling
  • Multi-account AWS or multi-subscription Azure architectures
  • GitOps and progressive delivery
  • OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, or advanced observability
  • SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and reliability engineering
  • Multi-region architectures, disaster recovery, and chaos/resilience testing
  • Cloud FinOps, rightsizing, tagging, autoscaling, and cost governance
  • Modernizing Windows/IIS or other legacy enterprise workloads to cloud-native architectures
  • AIOps or AI-assisted tooling for operations, troubleshooting, or developer productivity
  • C#/.NET enterprise application environments
  • Portuguese language skills for collaboration in Brazil

What you’ll get?

This opportunity combines the autonomy of a senior individual contributor position with the chance to influence cloud, DevOps, platform, and reliability practices across a distributed engineering organization. You’ll solve technically challenging problems while building reusable capabilities that make other engineers more productive.

Location: Remote, Brazil
Employment: Full-time
Working model: Remote collaboration with meaningful overlap with the core engineering team and participation in scheduled on-call rotations when required.
