Role Title: Senior Aviation Maintenance Inspector

micro1 is engaging Senior Aviation Maintenance Inspectors to contribute to a customer’s project focused on advancing aviation maintenance procedures and regulatory knowledge. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This engagement seeks FAA-certified professionals with deep technical insight and a passion for precision in documentation, communication, and compliance within regulated environments.

Scope of Work

1. Review, analyze, and annotate aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), and related technical documents.
2. Evaluate and critique borescope engine inspection data, identifying anomalies and recommending corrective actions based on FAA standards.
3. Assess composite structure inspection processes and outcomes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
4. Interpret approach plates and flight operations briefing materials, providing detailed feedback on navigational and operational accuracy.
5. Deliver comprehensive written and verbal insights on maintenance and inspection procedures to inform AI model development.
6. Cross-reference maintenance tasks with FAA Parts 43, 121, 135, and 145 to ensure compliance and accurate process representation.
7. Contribute subject matter expertise to refine and validate data sets used for AI training in aviation contexts.

Preferred Qualifications

1. FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate, Inspection Authorization (IA), or equivalent Part 145 inspector status strongly preferred.
2. 8+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and regulatory compliance.
3. Expertise with borescope engine inspection and interpretation of resulting imagery and reports.
4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, IPCs, and approach plates.
5. Thorough working knowledge of FAA Parts 43, 121, 135, and 145 regulations and real-world application.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities, with a strong attention to detail.
7. Experience as a check airman or in training/mentoring roles within aviation maintenance settings is a plus.
