Remote Finance & Accounting Specialist

GOAT Tutors is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Specialist to join our team on a remote basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, and general finance experience who can work independently and maintain accurate financial records.

Position Details

• Position: Finance & Accounting Specialist
• Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
• Pay: $35–$45 per hour
• Employment Type: Part-time or contract, with potential for ongoing work
• Schedule: Flexible, with availability during U.S. business hours preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial and accounting records.
• Record and categorize income, expenses, invoices, and payments.
• Reconcile bank and credit-card accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist with budgeting, cash-flow tracking, and financial forecasting.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain organized documentation and supporting financial records.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting and expense tracking.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly.
• Provide financial information and reports to management as requested.
• Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification.
• Experience working with small businesses, education companies, or service-based organizations.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
