Quality Engineer Intern

About FORMR

FORMR is a pre-launch sports-tech platform founded by Rennie Curran, former NFL linebacker. We’re building the platform that connects athletes, coaches, trainers, and fans in one community ecosystem. As we head toward launch, we’re making sure every feature works the way our community expects from day one. We’re looking for a sharp, curious quality engineering intern who wants hands-on experience testing a real product before it ships, at a startup with a real founder and a real story.

What You Will Do

  • Test new features and builds across mobile and web, and confirm they match the agreed product requirements
  • Write and maintain test cases, test plans, and acceptance checklists for core app features (profiles, community, events, and fan engagement)
  • Find, document, and track bugs with clear steps to reproduce, screenshots, and severity ratings
  • Run regression testing before each release to make sure fixes don’t break existing features
  • Work with our development partner to verify bug fixes and close out issues
  • Test usability and the user experience from an athlete’s, coach’s, and fan’s point of view, and flag anything confusing or broken
  • Help get the platform ready for launch with test coverage summaries and release-readiness reports
  • Bonus exposure: basic automated testing, API testing, or performance checks if you’re interested

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related program
  • Detail-oriented with a “break it before users do” mindset. You notice what others miss.
  • Clear written communication. Your bug reports should be easy for a developer to act on.
  • Organized and self-directed. You follow up without being asked.
  • Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and how apps are built and released
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Genuine interest in startups, sports, or athlete-focused technology
  • Bonus: experience with Jira or a similar issue tracker, testing tools (Postman, Selenium, Cypress, TestFlight), Agile/Scrum coursework, or a prior internship or project in QA or development

What You Get

  • Direct mentorship from founder Rennie Curran and FORMR’s technical delivery leadership, plus access to Rennie’s professional network
  • Real experience in pre-launch quality engineering: test planning, defect management, vendor coordination, and release readiness
  • A front-row seat to taking a sports-tech product from build to launch
  • Letter of recommendation and LinkedIn endorsement
  • Academic credit coordination available
  • A strong portfolio of deliverables (test plans, bug reports, QA reports) to show future employers
