Position: Domain Expert – Financial Reporting (Workiva)
Type:Contract
Compensation:$70–$100/hour
Location:Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Confirm a figure, tag, or disclosure in the filing is correct and traces back to its source, not just that it renders.
• Catch broken or stale links, mis-tagged XBRL elements, sign or period errors, and edits made outside the scope of the request.
• Judge completeness: when one number changes, ensure all affected statements, footnotes, and tags are updated.
• Distinguish “the document validates” from “this would survive SEC review or audit.”
• Verify that a request that should be refused (editing a locked section, overriding a signed-off control without support) is refused rather than forced through.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Frequent Workiva use – weekly or more – in your current or recent role
• 3+ years of SEC reporting, technical accounting, or SOX/internal audit experience at a public company or audit firm
• Can spot a broken tie-out, a wrong XBRL element, or a missing disclosure on sight

Preferred

• CPA strongly preferred; Big 4 or public-company reporting background preferred
• Strong working knowledge in at least 2–3 specialized areas above
• Prior data annotation, labeling, or AI evaluation experience is a plus
