Remote (United States or Canada, minimum 4-hour overlap with US Eastern hours) | Marketing | Reports to: VP of Marketing
The role
You won’t write most of our content, you’ll design, build, and run the AI-powered system (think content engineering) that turns product, customer, and expert knowledge into content that drives organic pipeline.
You’re not a software engineer, but you think like one. You’re as comfortable vibe coding and building agents as you are customizing WordPress, writing brand guidelines, or proofreading a white paper.
This is the first hire on a new team at Time Doctor. We run it like an engineering team whose product is content: a clear spec, a repeatable production system, quality gates, and measured output. The team stays small and gets its leverage from AI, automation, freelancers, agencies, and subject-matter experts.
Who we are
Time Doctor is a workforce analytics platform that gives distributed teams the visibility they need to improve trust and performance. We serve remote, hybrid and outsourced organisations worldwide, with particular strength in BPO, healthcare and tech services. We are bootstrapped, profitable and fully remote, with team members across 30+ countries. We built a durable business on customer revenue rather than venture capital, and we are now focused on growing it.
What you’ll own
Content strategy. Decide what we publish, for whom, and why, based on search demand, AI-search behavior, buyer questions, and revenue marketing priorities.
The content production system. Design and run the AI workflows, agents, prompt libraries, briefs, and QA gates that produce content at scale. Treat it like a product: version it, measure it, and keep improving it.
Expert input pipeline. Build repeatable ways to capture knowledge from product, customer success, sales, customers, and outside experts, and feed it into the system so our content says things competitors can’t.
Verbal and visual brand. Own voice, tone, and editorial standards, and encode them into the system so every asset meets them by default.
SEO and AI search (GEO). Own strategy for organic search and visibility in AI answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and others).
The website. Own site architecture, content structure, conversion paths, and the website roadmap.
Tooling and vendors. Choose and manage the AI tools, automation platforms, and outside partners the team runs on, within a budget.
How you’ll be measured
You own three outcomes: organic leads, organic traffic, and AI + SEO search visibility. Because organic results lag, your first two quarters are weighted toward leading indicators that show the system is working.
What you’ll manage and who you’ll work with
You’ll build and manage: content development, technical SEO/GEO implementation, and visual design. You’ll do the work yourself when speed matters, and bring in agencies, contractors, or freelancers you select and direct against our brand guidelines when scale matters.
Your inputs: positioning, messaging, and personas come from the VP of Marketing. You turn them into content at scale; you don’t own positioning.
Your team: Freelancers and contractors as needed, with a path to hire as the system proves out.
Who you are
Must have
5+ years in B2B SaaS content, SEO, or growth marketing, including 1+ years leading a function or program.
You’ve built and run AI-powered content workflows in production. You can walk us through one end to end: inputs, tools, prompts, skills, QA gates, output volume, and results.
Hands-on with AI and automation tools (LLMs, agents, and automation platforms).
Comfortable tinkering with HTML and CSS. Can read Python and scripts. Comfortable with Claude Code or eager to learn it.
A track record of growing organic traffic and leads through SEO, with a working understanding of how AI search surfaces and cites content.
Strong editorial judgment. You know when an AI draft is off-brand, generic, or wrong, and you design the system to catch it.
Experience directing freelancers, agencies, and subject-matter experts to a quality bar.
You think in systems and metrics: throughput, cycle time, cost per asset, and outcomes.
Nice to have
Experience owning a B2B website roadmap and conversion optimization.
Background in time tracking, workforce analytics, HR tech, or remote-work software.
This role is not a fit if you want to be the primary writer, or if your strength is CMS or content platform architecture rather than marketing outcomes.
How we’ll evaluate
A walkthrough of a content system you’ve built, and a short exercise designing a workflow for one of our content types. We won’t ask for writing samples.
Why this role
You are the first hire on a new team, and you get to design the content system from the ground up.
You own real outcomes: organic leads, traffic, and AI search visibility, with the authority to choose the tools and partners you run on.
You work AI-first from day one, at a company that expects it and funds the tools.
We are profitable and bootstrapped. Your budget comes from customers, not from a burn rate.
Professional development resources and a learning budget.
Fully remote and flexible, working with talented people in 30+ countries.
Our hiring approach
This is a full-time, 100% remote role. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity and inclusion. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability.
We hire globally, but this particular role is open only to candidates based in the United States or Canada, with at least four hours of daily overlap with US Eastern hours. Our Talent Attraction team will walk you through the details during your first conversation.
