AI & Automation Intern (Unpaid, Project-Based)
Dublin Tour Guide | Remote | 1-Month Internship
About Dublin Tour Guide
Dublin Tour Guide provides private, high-quality tours in Dublin, helping travellers discover Irish history, culture and local experiences.
We are looking to explore how AI and automation can improve our business, mainly sales & marketing.
We are looking for a few motivated and curious AI & Automation Interns who are interested in applying AI tools to real business challenges. This is a short-term, project-based internship where you will have the opportunity to work on a practical AI project and gain hands-on experience. Beginners welcome!
About the Role
This is only partly about using LLMs like ChatGPT. It is more about finding, researching and implementing an AI with a specific use, e.g. transcribing text from audio (Castmagic), autoseo etc. You can use sites like these: https://bestofai.io/ https://aitoolsdirectory.com/ to find lists of so many AI tools with specific purposes.
Even though you will be asked to research, evaluate and use an AI tool that you will likely not be familiar with, you do not need experience with the tool specifically. However, you do need a curiosity in AI tools and a logical or process-orientated work mindset.
You will need to consider our company (link at the bottom to learn more about our company), its online presence and target audience to come up with a project. Here is an example of one of the projects we would like done (even though we expect you to come up with your own project):
You will work on a project to explore and develop an AI-assisted system to automate the monitoring and analysis of customer reviews from platforms such as Google and Tripadvisor.
*The aim is to reduce manual work by creating an AI system to collect, analyse, categorise (e.g. identifying well-written ones that might be suitable for our website or social media) and summarise customer reviews on a regular-basis (weekly/monthly) within a Google Sheet or similar. The AI would then execute a task like post to social media or a similar marketing task that you will use your creativity to invent. This will also help our team better understand customer feedback and guide performance. *
How we suggest you approach this:
- Read about our company in the doc linked here
- Consider some areas/departments where you think we need to improve or where we need help. Write down some ideas
- Search for AI tools, either through any online AI directory or directory or however you like.
- Once you decide on what project you’d like to do – remember that by the end of the 4 weeks, there should be a tangible outcome. In other words, you must set a S.M.A.R.T. goal. This means that you must aim to achieve something, e.g. created 3 quality articles for the website, complete with metadescriptions, alttext etc., images (or 3 suggestions for each image), scheduled post-dates, accompanying social media posts etc.
- Write a brief proposal with your plan and your expected goal. “Reach out to Travel Advisors” is not a goal, but “Set up 3 scheduled meetings with Travel Advisors by week 4” is.
We will do our best to tell you what you need to know before creating your proposal so that it is as relevant as possible. The more detailed and specific your proposal is, the better.
Once we have received enough good proposals, we will be engaging with several interns, each doing their own project. You will take ownership of a specific AI-related task.
By the end of the 4-week period, those who successfully work creatively, diligently and effectively, i.e. achieving their goal, will be chosen for paid work, which we hope will be long-term. If that were you, you will then be on-boarded properly onto the Dublin Tour Guide team. We’d hope that you’d eventually become an expert at using your chosen AI tool(s).
We will not spend much time helping you amend your proposal, except for aspects like the goal.
This is a great opportunity to get creative, learn the expansive applications of many AI-tools and AI in general for your professional and personal life.
Those who achieve the goal(s), to a satisfying degree and within the deadline (duration of internship), will likely be hired for paid work for more AI-based projects.
**Key Responsibilities (sample project) **
- Research and explore AI tools and automation solutions to improve existing business processes.

- Develop a simple system to categorise and rank reviews based on agreed criteria.
- Explore ways to automate weekly email reports with short summaries of new reviews.
- Test and improve the proposed solution to ensure accuracy and usefulness.
- Document the workflow, tools and recommendations for future development.
- Present the final project and share your findings with the team.
- Requirements
- We are more interested in your curiosity, problem-solving ability and willingness to learn than extensive technical experience.
Essential:
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively.
- Availability to commit to the agreed internship period.
- Self-starter
- Genuine interest in AI, automation and emerging technologies.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.

Experience with Google Sheets, Airtable or data analysis.
An academic background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Analytics or a related field.
We welcome applications from students, recent graduates and individuals looking to gain practical experience in AI and automation.
What You Will Gain
- Practical AI experience: Apply AI tools to a real business project rather than theoretical exercises. AI tools say that they can do this or that, but fail when there is a real-life scenario. You’ll find out how to tailor or tweak an AI tool to meet your goal.
- Hands-on project experience: Gain experience in AI evaluation, automation, data processing and workflow development.
- Problem-solving skills: Learn how to identify business challenges and develop practical technology-based solutions.
- Portfolio experience: Gain a project you may be able to discuss on your CV or portfolio, subject to confidentiality requirements.
- Professional development: Receive feedback on your performance and a certificate or reference upon successful completion, where appropriate.
- Potential career opportunities: Strong performers may be considered for future employment opportunities with Dublin Tour Guide, subject to business needs and available positions.
